Line the air fryer insert with 2 sheets of foil, folding the edges up 2–3 inches high to form a “pan.” Generously coat with cooking spray and set aside.
Preheat the empty air fryer to 350°F for 10 minutes.
In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined (1–2 minutes).
Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir into the wet ingredients.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Spread the dough evenly and firmly into the prepared foil pan.
Carefully place the pan into the hot air fryer insert.
Bake at 350°F for 10-20 minutes. This will vary based on what size your air fryer is. The edges should be set, and the center will remain slightly gooey. If the top starts to brown before the center is cooked, cover with foil.
Remove the foil pan with tongs and transfer to a plate.
Top with ice cream and enjoy warm while soft and gooey in the center.
