Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ingredients needed to make cake: eggs, oil & water
  • 2 3.4 oz packages instant banana pudding
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 8 oz tub frozen whipped topping (COOL WHIP) thawed
  • 20 vanilla wafers crushed plus a few whole ones

Instructions

  • Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package directions, using the required eggs, oil, and water, and bake in a 9×13 pan.
  • Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes, then refrigerate for about 2 hours until fully cooled.
  • Once cooled, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake, pushing down to the bottom.
  • In a bowl, whisk together 2 (3.4 oz) packages instant banana pudding mix and 4 cups milk until smooth and lump-free.
  • Pour the pudding evenly over the cake, spreading it out and gently pressing it into the holes.
  • Spread 1 (8 oz) tub thawed whipped topping evenly over the top of the cake.
  • Crush 20 vanilla wafers, leaving some larger pieces for texture, and sprinkle over the cake just before serving.
