- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup peanuts
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Grease a large cookie sheet (with sides). Set aside.
In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup water. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil.
Stir in 1 cup peanuts. Place a candy thermometer in the saucepan.
Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture reaches 300°F.
Remove from heat and immediately stir in 2 tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon baking soda.
Pour the mixture at once onto the prepared cookie sheet. Carefully spread by gently tilting the pan back and forth until evenly distributed.
Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces.
