Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 8 ounces softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  • Mix in 1 tablespoon lemon zest and 1/8 teaspoon salt until fully combined.
  • Add 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition until the frosting is completely combined and fluffy.
  • Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice and stir until smooth.
  • Use the frosting to decorate cakes or cupcakes. Enjoy!

Notes

This recipe makes enough frosting to top 12–18 cupcakes or cover a 9×13-inch cake or a two-layer 8- or 9-inch round cake.
Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
