Orange Brownies

You are going to love these light and fluffy Orange Brownies. These brownies are made without chocolate but a sweet citrus flavor.

Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 1 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter softened
  • 4 Large Eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons Orange Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Grated Orange Zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

For the Frosting:

  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese softened
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter softened
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Orange Zest
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Orange Juice as needed

Instructions

For the Brownies:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9X13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Beat together the butter and sugar with a hand held mixer or stand up mixer until light and fluffy.  Mix in the eggs and orange zest until combined.
  • Turn the mixer speed down to low and add in the flour and salt.  Mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly into the baking dish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minute until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely at room temperature before topping with the frosting.

For the Frosting:

  • Beat together the cream cheese and butter with a hand held mixer or stand up mixer until smooth and combined.
  • Add in the orange zest and powdered sugar.  Mix until incorporated.
  • Slowly mix in the orange juice until the frosting is the desired taste and consistency that you prefer.
  • Spread the frosting on top of the cooled brownies.  Cut the brownies into squares and serve!  Enjoy!

Notes

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days.
