Ingredients

  • 3 bags Popped Popcorn approximately 9 cups
  • 18 Tbsp Sugar
  • 6 tsp Water
  • Gel Food Coloring Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  • Place 3 Tbsp of Sugar in 6 different zip lock bags (3 Tbsp each).  Add a small amount (1-2 drops) of each gel food coloring to each bag.  Seal the bag and shake and knead thoroughly until the color is evenly distributed throughout the sugar.
  • Then in a small saucepan, heat 1 color of the sugar with 1 tsp of the water over medium high heat to melt the sugar.  Do not stir and watch closely so that the sugar does not burn.
  • Then remove the pan from the heat and stir in approximately 1 1/2 cups of the popcorn into the colored syrup.  Stir until the popcorn is well coated with the color.  Then place the popcorn on a baking sheet lined with foil to cool. Sprinkle approximately 1/4 tsp of salt over the popcorn.
  • Continue this process with the remaining colors of the sugar until all the popcorn is coated.
  • Once the popcorn has fully cooled, it is ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

Any leftover popcorn will keep at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
