Ingredients

  • 1 Apple
  • 2 teaspoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  • Thoroughly wash and dry the apple.
  • Slice the apple into thin slices (approximately 1/8th inch thick) and remove any seeds in the apple slices.
  • Place the apples in a single layer.  Mix together the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apple slices.
  • Rub olive oil on the air fryer basket or spray it with an olive oil spray to keep the apple slices from sticking.
  • Place the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket.  It’s ok to allow them to overlap slightly but you do not want them piled on top of each other.  You may have to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Air fry the apples at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes (tossing the apples every 3-4 minutes) until the apple slices are golden brown and starting to become crispy.. Watch them closely while cooking to avoid burning the apple slices.
  • Remove the apple slices from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack to cool completely (they will get crispier while they are cooling).
  • Then the apple slices are ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

Crunchy, crisp apples are the best for this recipe.  I love using Fuji, Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, Gala or Pink Lady apples.
You can remove the center of the apple slices if you prefer, but I usually just leave them and remove the seeds and they turn out great every time.
Make sure to use an olive oil spray and not a non-stick spray as the non-stick spray will deteriorate the coating on the air fryer basket.
These are best served immediately as the apple chips will lose their crispness after a few days.  However, you can store the leftovers in an airtight container for a few days.
