Ingredients

FOR THE FRITTERS:

  • 1.5 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 Tbsp Melted Butter cooled
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 Granny Smith Applies peeled and diced
  • Vegetable Oil for frying

FOR THE GLAZE:

  • 2 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together the milk, eggs, cooled butter and vanilla extract.
  • Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until a loose dough is formed.  Then carefully fold in the diced apples.
  • Heat approximately 3 inches of the oil in a large pot until its approximately 350 degrees F.
  • Drop approximately 1/4 cup of the batter into the oil, spreading it out as you put it into the oil.  Fry for approximately 2-3 minutes until golden brown.  Flip and fry the other side as well until golden brown (2-3 minutes).  A knife inserted into the center of the fritter should come out clean. Then carefully remove the fritter from the oil with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined plate.  Let the fritters cool completely.
  • Mix together the glaze ingredients in a bowl.  Dip the fritters in the glaze to covered them with the glaze and place them on a wire rack to dry.
  • Then the fritters are ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

These fritters are best served the day that they are made but you can store the leftovers at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Be careful not to over mix the batter or the fritters could be tough.
You will likely need to fry the fritters in batches depending on the size of your pan.
