Why You Will Love This Recipe
The fritters are so decadent and have a delicious, powdered sugar glaze all over the top.
Fritters are deep fried cakes with fruit mixed in. Apple Fritters have fresh apples, cinnamon, vanilla and more in the dough.
Ingredients

Fritters
- All Purpose Flour. Spoon the flour into a measuring cup instead of scooping. This is more accurate.
- Ground Cinnamon. Feel free to add a little extra cinnamon if you love cinnamon.
- Milk. Whole milk is best.
- Melted Butter. This needs to be cooled before using.
- Vanilla Extract. I suggest pure vanilla extract.
- Granny Smith Apples. Peeled and diced. You can also use Golden Delicious if you want a less tart apple.
- Vegetable Oil. For frying.
Glaze
- Confectioners Sugar. If it is lumpy, you can sift it before using.
- Milk. Whole milk will give the glaze a richer taste.

Storage
These fritters are best served the day that they are made. However, you can store the leftovers at room temperature for up to 1 week. Then, just place them inside an airtight container.
I would use parchment paper to separate the layers. This prevents them from sticking and also helps to absorb the grease.
Expert Tips
- Do not overmix. Be careful not to over mix the batter or the fritters could be tough.
- Fry in batches. You will likely need to fry the fritters in batches depending on the size of your pan.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan. The oil temperature is hard to maintain when too much dough is placed in the pan.
- Drain on paper towels. Allow the fritters to drain on paper towels once taken out of the oil. This will allow excess grease to be absorbed into the paper towels while cooling.
What Type of Apple is Best For Frying?
Granny Smith apples are the best apples for frying. They hold up well to the heat during the cooking process. This type of apple is firm and ideal for cooking.
You can also use golden delicious, gala, fuji or honeycrisp apples.
