Place a loaf pan or freezer-safe container in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before starting.
Place a large mixing bowl and whisk or whisk attachment in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. Make sure the 2 cups heavy whipping cream and 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk are very cold.
Pour the 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream into the chilled bowl. Beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer until stiff peaks form.
In a separate bowl, stir together the 14-ounce can of cold sweetened condensed milk and 2 teaspoons cotton candy flavoring until smooth and well combined.
Gradually add the condensed milk mixture to the whipped cream. Gently fold with a spatula after each addition until fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix so the whipped cream stays light and fluffy.
Divide the mixture evenly between 2 bowls.
Add pink food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to the other. Stir gently until each mixture reaches the desired color.
Remove the chilled loaf pan or freezer-safe container from the freezer. Drop spoonfuls of the pink and blue ice cream mixtures into the container, alternating the colors as desired.
Gently swirl the two colors together with a knife or spatula for a cotton-candy effect. Do not over-swirl.
Cover the container tightly and freeze for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, until completely firm.
Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before scooping if it is too firm.
Serve topped with cotton candy, if desired.
Notes
This homemade ice cream is very soft and melts quicker than store bought ice cream.
Cotton Candy Flavoring can be found in the baking section at most craft stores, or in the candy making area.
You can also add sprinkles if you like.
