Ingredients

  • 1 Jar Nutella
  • 1 1/2 cups pancake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil plus more for frying
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.  Drop the Nutella into dollops on the baking sheets on the parchment paper.  They do not need to be perfect round balls, just drop it onto the baking sheet. Then place the sheets in the freezer and freeze for 2-4 hours until the Nutella is frozen solid.
  • Heat 3 inches of oil in a deep pot until the oil reaches 350 degrees F.  You can use a deep fryer or heat the oil in a large pot.
  • Place the pancake mix, egg, milk and 2 teaspoons vegetable oil in a bowl. Stir to combine.
  • Dip each of the frozen Nutella into the batter, then place in the oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown all over.
  • Place the fried Nutella on a plate lined with a paper towel to soak up the excess oil and sift powdered sugar over the top.
  • Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can use any brand of pancake batter or homemade pancake batter for this recipe.
These are best served fresh as they do not get soft as they are stored.  However, you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.  Reheat in oil or an air fryer to make them crispy again before enjoying.
