Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup Powder Sugar

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients: milk and 2 large eggs.
  • Slow stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until the mixture is smooth. Then place the batter in a bag or bottle for piping.
  • Heat up vegetable oil in a saucepan. You will want to line the bottom of the pan with approximately 2″ of oil. Heat on medium heat until the oil is hot (2-4 minutes).
  • Then pipe the batter in long straight lines (approximately 2-3 inches long) into the oil.  Make sure not to overcrowd the fries in the oil when frying.  You will likely need to cook in batches depending on the size of your pan.
  • Then fry each side for about 60 seconds until golden brown.
  • Then move the fries from the oil to a plate lined with a paper plate to soak up the excess oil.  Dust the fries with the powdered sugar.
  • Then serve with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to test the oil by sprinkling a small amount of flour into the oil and if the oil sizzles then it’s hot enough and ready to use to make the funnel fries.
I love serving these fries with marshmallow fluff, chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
If the batter is too thick to fully stir together, then gradually add water (1 Tbsp at a time) until it’s about to mix together.
