Homemade Butterscotch Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • ¾ cup Dark Brown Sugar firmly packed
  • ½ teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • ½ cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium high heat.  Then whisk in the brown sugar, salt and heavy whipping cream until it’s well blended.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil.  Reduce the heat to a low boil and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring frequently until the mixture is smooth and not grainy.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • The sauce will thicken as it sits.  Then it’s ready to serve and enjoy!
