Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy with a stand up mixer or hand held mixer.
Then mix in the eggs and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and baking powder.
Then gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture. Mix on a low speed and mix until just combined. Be careful not to over mix.
Then gently stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
Place tablespoons of the dough onto a baking sheet using a cookie scoop.
Then bake for 10-12 minutes until the cookies are slightly golden brown around the edges.
Let the cookies set on the baking sheet for 5 minutes and then move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
