Set out 6 (9-ounce) clear plastic cups or 6 (8-ounce) mason jars .
In the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment or a hand mixer, prepare the whipped cream by combining the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla; beat on high speed until stiff peaks form (about 2-3 minutes).
To arrange the trifles, place 1 layer of cake cubes into the bottom of each cup. Add a layer of strawberry pieces (just enough to cover the cake). Spoon some whipped cream on top of the strawberries. Then place another cake layer on top of the whipped cream. Add a layer of blueberries. Top with a last layer of whipped cream.
Decorate with additional blueberries and strawberries, if desired.
For best taste, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
If buying a prepared cake, make sure it’s at least 10 ounces in order to get 4 cups.
The trifle layers can be arranged into any order desired. Place the layers neatly so they look like stripes. Don’t make each layer too thick, otherwise they won’t all fit into the cup.
