Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 ounces Cream Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Pink Purple, Blue & Yellow Gel Food Coloring
  • Star and Multi-Colored Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Cream together the butter, shortening and cream cheese with a stand up mixer or hand held mixer for approximately 2 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add in sugar and salt. Mix until well combined.
  • Then stir in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Gradually add in the flour on low speed until the dough is formed.
  • Divide the batter evenly in 4 even bowls and dye them each one of the colors.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Take the dough out of the freezer and divide each of the doughs into 8 even pieces.  Store the dough in the freezer while you prepare all the cookies.
  • Take one piece of each of the colored dough. Roll them out like a snake (do not use flour). Make them approximately 6 inches long.
  • Once all the colors are rolled out, stack them into a pile and gently press the ropes together but do not mix them together.  Roll out again until the snake is approximately 10-12 inches. Then cut in half lengthwise.
  • Then coil each piece into a poop shape onto a baking sheet. Top with the fun sprinkles.
  • Continue this process until all the cookies are formed.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cookies are set and the bottoms of the cookies are lightly golden brown.
  • Cool the cookies on a wire rack and then they are ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store the leftover cookies in an airtight container or bag at room temperature for up to 1 week.  Keep a piece of bread in the container with the cookies to keep them soft.
