Storage

Store the leftover cookies in an airtight container or bag at room temperature for up to 1 week.  Keep a piece of bread in the container with the cookies to keep them soft.

The cookies can be frozen inside an airtight container. Make sure they are completely cool before freezing.

We also suggest placing parchment paper in between the cookies. This will prevent them from sticking.

They can be frozen up to 2 months. When ready to use, thaw in the refrigerator overnight then allow to come to room temperature.

Expert Tips

  • Room temperature butter and cream cheese. The mixture will combine together better if it is room temperature. It will be easier to mix and the texture will be smoother.
  • Freeze the dough before forming cookies. It is important to freeze the dough before making the swirls and combining the colors to form each cookie.
  • Try different colors. The unicorn cookies are easy to modify using various colors of food dye. You can use any color you prefer to make it work for your unicorn party theme.
