It’s a great way to use extra apples and so easy. With only a handful of ingredients, this delicious recipe for Air Fryer Apple Fries is effortless.
I love to make this when I want something sweet but healthier than heavy desserts.
Ingredients

- Granny Smith Apples. The tartness of Granny Smith apples is perfect with the sweet topping.
- All Purpose Flour. It is best to spoon the flour into the measuring cup instead of scooping it. This will prevent too much flour being packed into the cup.
- Apple pie spice. This is the perfect blend of spices to pair with this recipe.
- Eggs. Use large eggs.
Topping
- Brown Sugar. Homemade Brown Sugar Recipe is easy to make if you don’t want to use store bought.

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1. Prepare the apples. Peel and slice into thin strips.

Step 2. Use a small shallow mixing bowl and stir together the flour and apple pie spice. Then use a separate shallow bowl and whisk together the eggs.

Step 3. Coat the apple slices in the egg mixture. You will need to work in batches. Make sure to let any excess flour drip off the apples. Then place them in the flour mixture and coat.

Step 4. Place the apples on a separate plate. Continue this process until all the apples are coated. Next, mix together the topping ingredients and set aside.

Step 5. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat the basket with oil. Then place the coated apples in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You will have to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Also, spray the top of the apples with oil.

Step 6. Finally, cook the apples for 6 minutes. Next, flip the apples, spray them again with the spray oil and cook for 6 more minutes. Then remove from the air fryer and place on a cooling rack. Top immediately with the topping mixture.
Serving Suggestions
I love to drizzle caramel sauce or use as a dipping sauce for the apple wedges. Homemade Whipped Cream is also delicious or No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream.

Storage
These apples are best eaten fresh, but you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1-2 days. I recommend reheating leftovers in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes so that they are crispy again!
Pro Tips
- Coating the air fryer basket. It’s best to use a spray oil instead of a non-stick cooking spray in an air fryer basket so that it doesn’t affect the lining of your air fryer basket.
- Preheating the air fryer. If your air fryer doesn’t have a pre-heat option, then run the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F before preparing the apples.
- Top the apples right away. Make sure to top the apples immediately while still warm to make sure that the cinnamon and sugar mixture sticks to the apples.
- Preparing the apples. I prefer to peel the apples, but you can leave them on if you want.
- Air fry in a single layer. The apples should not overlap, or they will not be crispy.
- Cooking times vary. Each individual air fryer will cook differently. Keep a close eye on the apple slices.
