Variations
- Apples – I used Granny Smith apples for this recipe, but any type of apples would work great in this recipe.
- Batter Mixture – You easily swap the flour mixture with pancake batter to enhance the sweetness.
- Apple Wedges – Instead of doing apple slices you can do apple wedges. Just cut them in about the same size.
How to Make Deep Fried Apples

Step 1. First, wash and peel the apples. Then slice them into thin slices and cut out the core with a cookie cutter or an apple corer. Heat approximately 1 inch of the vegetable oil in a pot until it reaches approximately 350 degrees.

Step 2. Get out a small bowl. Mix together the flour, milk, baking powder, egg and 2 tbsp of the sugar until smooth. Carefully dip each slice of the apple in the batter and remove excess batter. Then fry the coated apples in the oil.

Step 3. Fry the apples. Cook for approximately 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Then move the apples to a plate lined with paper towels to soak up the excess oil.

Step 4. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl. Dip the fried apple slices in the cinnamon sugar mixture while they are still warm.
How to Fry Apples?

Topping Ideas
- Sauce – I love serving these topped with Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe and Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe or Chocolate syrup.
- Whipped Topping – Top each apple slice with Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe.
- Ice Cream – Top the apple slices with No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream or caramel ice cream.
Pro Tips
- Apples – We recommend using firm apples for this delicious treat. The apples won’t get mushy when you cook them in the batter.
- Peeling Apples – You can peel the apples or leave the peel on.
- Cutting Apples – Cut apples about the same size so they cook evenly.
- Oil – Make sure your oil is hot before adding the apples into the skillet.
- Serve Hot – This apple treat is not recommended to make in advance. Once they have been drained on the paper towel serve hot with your favorite topping.
- Don’t Stack – Place apple slice in the batter one slice at a time.
Storage
These fried apples are best served fresh while the fried apples are crispy but you can store the leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
