- Step 2. Next, allow the ice cream to soften. Set the ½ gallon of ice cream on the counter to soften.
Step 3. Crush the Oreo cookies in a gallon size freezer bag. Pound them with a mallet or a rolling pin. Then place in a mixing bowl. Save about ½ cup for topping. Add the melted butter and combine.
Step 4. Once combined, press this mixture into the bottom of pan.

Step 6. Next, warm the hot fudge sauce so that it’s easy to pour. Then drizzle on top of the ice cream layer in the pan. Place back in the freezer for 1 hour.
Step 7. Take the pan out of the freezer and add the whipped cream. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos on top.
Step 8. Finally, freeze for at least 30 minutes or until ready to serve. Then slice and enjoy.
Pro Tips
- Soften before serving. Allow the ice cream cake to sit at room temperature before serving a few minutes. This will make it easier to slice.
- Freeze each layer. It’s important to freeze the layers before adding each new layer of ingredients.
- Carefully spread the ice cream. It is easiest to spread the ice cream on top of the cookies if you allow it to soften.
- Line the pan. It will be easier to lift out to cut if lined in parchment paper.
- Coarsely chop cookies. You don’t want them crushed into fine crumbs but left with larger pieces.
- Transport without melting. If you plan to take this cake somewhere, I suggest placing in a cooler with ice packs. Do not open the cooler until ready to serve.
Storage
Cover in plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Allow to sit at room temperature for 5 minutes when ready to serve.
