Lollipop sticks in trees.

Step 5. Melt the Chocolate in intervals. Insert the sticks into each tree. Dip the end of lollipop sticks into the melted green candy melt.  Then gently place each cake pop stick into the larger end of the cone about halfway through.  Freeze for 10-15 minutes. I recommend the freezer instead of the fridge.

How to Decorate

You can easily make these cake pops with your favorite type of cake mix and frosting.

  • Almond Bark – Use almond bark instead of candy melts for the chocolate. Add food coloring to get the color you want.
  • Sprinkles – Use Christmas Sprinkles with the candy to make it look like lights.
  • Frosting – You can use different color of candy melts. All Christmas Trees don’t have to be green.
  • Chocolate Chips – Mini chocolate chocolate chips can be used as decorations.
  • Cake Ball – If you don’t want to make cones, just make them into cake balls.

Recipe Tips:

  • Thin the candy melts. If the melted candy melt is too thick, thin it out by adding more of the vegetable shortening. Add it slowly to the melted candy until it’s a good consistency.
  • Remove outer layer of cake. If you spot any rough edges on the cake, remove them before mixing with the icing. This will ensure the cake pops are moist and easy to form.
  • Dipping the cake pops. Don’t swirl the trees into the candy melts. Dip straight into the melted candy and up. This will make for cleaner lines and a pretty finish.
