  • Peaches. I like the ones in heavy syrup.
  • Yellow cake mix. Any brand is fine.
  • Butter. It needs to be melted.

Substitutions and Additions

  • Cake Mix. Try other flavors including white cake mix or spice cake.
  • Fruit. Substitute other fruit options for the peaches. Some ideas include fruit cocktail and pears.
  • Pie Filling. Try peach, apple, cherry, strawberry or blueberry pie filling.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1. Use a 6-quart crockpot and pour the cans of peaches in it. Do not drain the juice.

Step 2. Get out a mixing bowl and add the dry cake mix to it.

Step 3. Add the melted butter and combine.

Step 4. Spread the cake mix over the peaches in the slow cooker.

Step 5. Cook for 2 hours on high.

Storage

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container up to 5 days.  

Expert Tips

  • Don’t mix the layers in the crock pot. Place the cake layer in the slow cooker without mixing together with the fruit.
  • Cooking time is an estimate. Crock Pot cooking times vary. Monitor the dessert to ensure it is properly cooked.
  • Keep the top crispy. If the top isn’t getting brown and crispy, place a paper towel on top of the crock pot. Then place the lid over it. This will help reduce any moisture.
  • Don’t add sugar. The heavy syrup in the peaches and the sweetness from the cake mix it perfect. I don’t recommend adding extra sugar to the fruit.
  • Keep the liquid in the peaches. Don’t drain the fruit before placing in the crock pot.

Instructions
