Variations and Substitutions

  • Icing. If you would like more icing then what comes with the cinnamon rolls, feel free to add more. You can use store bought or make a drizzle with powdered sugar and milk. We also like cream cheese icing on top or a brown sugar glaze.
  • Fruit. Peach is our favorite but you can use other fruit in this. Strawberry or apples taste delicious.
  • Cinnamon Rolls. Try other varieties of cinnamon rolls. They have brown sugar, orange flavor and more.
  • Pecans. Sprinkle chopped pecans in the cobbler mixture. Feel free to use other types of nuts such as walnuts.

Expert Tips

  • Thaw the fruit. Fresh or frozen peaches can be used in this recipe. However, if using frozen fruit, allow it to thaw and come to room temperature.
  • Cut the cinnamon rolls. Each cinnamon roll should be cut into 4 pieces and placed in an even layer. This will ensure everything is cooked evenly.
  • Cover with foil. The dish should be covered initially and then taken off for the last 20 minutes so it can brown.
  • Thoroughly cook. Make sure to allow the cobbler to cook for the allotted time so it is not doughy.

  1. Teresa Youngman says:

Question – Have you tried using peach pie filling and if I was to go that route, would I just omit sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon?

    1. Carrie Barnard says:

I have tried that yet but if so, yes, I would just use the filling mixture instead of the peaches, sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Let me know how it works out!
