Pro Tips
- Softened Cream Cheese – Make sure that the cream cheese is at room temperature so that your dip doesn’t have any lumps in it.
- More Spice – If you want more pumpkin pie spice, just increase the spice flavoring.
- Cooking the Dip – Before serving the dip, make sure you allow the pumpkin dip to cool for at least 3 hours. This is the perfect dip to make ahead of time.
- Pie Place – This dessert dip can be made in a pie plate if you prefer a thinner layer of dip.
- Hand Mixer – An electric mixer helps to make this dip smooth and creamy. While I love my stand mixer, I prefer to use my hand held mixer for smaller recipes such as this.
- Pumpkin Pie Filling – Make sure when you buying the pumpkin puree that you get the can with only pumpkin listed as the ingredient. Pumpkin Pie Filling has other ingredients that would not work with this recipe.
- Marshmallow Fluff – You can substitute marshmallow fluff with cream cheese. It will be sweeter so you may need to adjust your powdered sugar ingredient. This will make it taste like pumpkin cheesecake.
- Vanilla Pudding Mix – For the warm vanilla flavor, add in a box of vanilla pudding mix.
- Whipped Cream – Add in a ½ cup whipped topping to the pumpkin to add creaminess and flavor. We like using cool whip.

FAQs
Yes, you can make Pumpkin Pie Dip in advance. Since it needs to cool for at 3 hours, I like making it the night before, so it has time to chill in the refrigerator.
Refrigerate any leftover dip in an airtight container for up to 5 days. We rarely have any leftovers, but with the holiday food we usually have some left. When you are serving your leftovers, don’t forget to setup out the Pumpkin Dip.
We have not tried to freeze this pumpkin dip. From my experience, dip with cream cheese in it doesn’t freeze well. The texture will change as it thaws out. So we do not recommend freezing it.
