Once you make homemade, you will be hooked.

Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe - chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter, evaporated milk, milk, vanilla, peanuts, caramels, heavy whipping cream.

Chocolate Layer

  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. Make sure to use semi-sweet chocolate and not milk chocolate chips. It helps to cut down on the sweetness.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter. Creamy peanut butter gives the candy bars the perfect texture.

Nougat Layer

  • Unsalted Butter. Use real butter!
  • Evaporated Milk. Don’t substitute this with regular milk.
  • Vanilla Extract. Pure vanilla extract is best.
  • Salted Peanuts. Roughly chop the nuts.

Caramel Layer

  • Caramels. You can also use caramel bits.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream. Heavy cream gives it the perfect consistency.

Pro Tips

  • Cut with a sharp knife. Use a sharp knife to get nice clean slices. Wipe the knife off in between slices.
  • Melt chocolate in increments. You do not want to burn the chocolate. It is important to melt in intervals to prevent overcooking. If overcooked, the chocolate will seize.
  • Melt on the stove top. If you do not have a microwave, melt the chocolate on the stove top on low heat. Stir the chocolate until melted.
  • Good quality chocolate. Use high quality chocolate for the best results.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter is best. Any brand is fine but creamy is recommended.
  • Baking Caramels are easiest to use. I prefer to use baking caramels or caramel bits for convenience.
