Step 2. Make the Caramel. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Then stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring this mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Then boil without stirring. After about 4 minutes, remove from the heat and then stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract.
Step 3. Next, coat the popcorn. Pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn and stir it to coat all the popcorn with the caramel sauce.
Step 4. Bake the popcorn. Place the popcorn in baking sheets. Then bake for about 30 minutes.
Step 5. Chop up the snicker’s bars. Stir the snicker pieces into the caramel popcorn and cook for 5 more minutes so the snicker’s pieces soften.
Step 6. Then remove the popcorn from the oven and place on a baking sheet to cool. While the popcorn is cooling, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30 second intervals. Make sure to stir after each interval until melted.
Step 7. Use a fork to drizzle the chocolate over the popcorn. Next, allow the popcorn to sit for 10-15 minutes. Then the popcorn is ready to break apart into pieces and enjoy!
Pro Tips
- Melt the chocolate in intervals. You don’t want to overcook or burn the chocolate.
- Remove any un popped popcorn kernels. It’s important to remove these before coating in melted chocolate.
- Use full size Snickers. It’s easier to cut them into pieces using the full size bars instead of miniatures.
Storage
Store the leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. It will last up to a week but is best consumed within 3 days for best freshness.
It will begin to get soggy after 2 or 3 days.
