Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep Cake Balls from falling apart?

To keep the cake balls from falling apart is to make sure your frosting isn’t to thick. You want to make sure that there is enough frosting to cover the cake, but not to much that it weighs it down.

Removing excessive chocolate allows for the balls to stay together. Allowing the chocolate to harden allows the cake balls to be a delicious treat.

How to decorate?

Add Sprinkles – Try using different types of sprinkles to decorate according to your theme. These are so easy to make work for any occasion.
Change the frosting – We love to try different frosting inside and even different candy melts.  Try milk chocolate instead of white chocolate to dip in chocolate with the cake balls.
Top with Chocolate Chips – Top with mini chocolate chips or nuts for an extra crunch flavoring.

How to Store Red Velvet Cake Balls?

To store leftover cake balls place them in an air tight container. You can store them in the refrigerator and they will last about 10 days.

Can you Freeze Cake Balls?

Yes, cake balls can also be placed in the freezer. They store great and we like to eat them cold.

You can flash freeze the cake balls, by putting them on a baking sheet and place in the freezer for about an hour. Once they are frozen individually, place in a freezer safe container or freezer bag.

We like to freeze individual cake balls so we can grab as many as we want to serve. This recipe would be great to make ahead of all the holiday rush.

How long do Cake Balls last?

Cake balls will last for about 5-7 days left out on the counter in an airtight container. We love to place them in a cake stand to easily serve them.

I was wondering what to substitute for coconut oil in the red velvet balls. Also, what kind of candy melts do you use.

You can use vegetable oil too. Any kind of candy melts will work.
