Variations
- Brownie. Skip the banana and use small brownie bites for the base.
- Cream Cheese and Powdered Sugar. Combine a block of cream cheese and ½ cup powdered sugar until smooth. Use this instead of white chocolate on top of the bananas.
- White Chocolate Chips. Substitute white chocolate chips for the mini marshmallows. Secure them with the same process using melted chocolate.
- Whipped Cream. Place whipped cream inside a piping bag and snip. Pipe on top of the strawberry instead of a marshmallow. Whipped cream can also be used in between the banana and strawberry.
- Yogurt. Squeeze yogurt tubes or any type of yogurt on the bananas as an alternative to chocolate. This is a great idea if you are looking for another option.
How to Make Strawberry Santa Hats

Step 1. Prepare the fresh strawberries by cutting the tops off. You want them to be able to lay flat.

Step 2. Next, prepare the bananas. Slice the bananas on a flat surface into 16 pieces total.

Step 3. Coat the banana in chocolate. Just spread a small amount onto each banana slice

Step 4. Top each one with a strawberry.

Step 5. Dip the mini marshmallows in melted chocolate. Place on top of each strawberry.

Step 6. Keep making all of the hats. Continue this process until all the Santa hats have been created. Then let the Santa hats rest for at least 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to re-harden.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Just keep in mind they are best enjoyed fresh as they can start to lose their shape.
These are best served the day that they are made. I do not suggest making these in advance. The top of the hats will lose its shape and the banana will brown.
This is such an easy recipe that it takes very little time to make. You can make these faster than getting a store bought treat.
Pro Tips
- Turn this into a fun activity for children. They can make and eat this fun holiday treat.
- Don’t peel and cut the bananas until ready to use so they don’t brown.
- Allow the Santa hats to completely set before serving. This takes about 10 minutes and is definitely worth the extra time.
- Pat the strawberries dry once hulling to remove any excess moisture. This will help each Santa to hold their shape.
