- Cake Mix. I love using a yellow cake mix for this recipe, but vanilla would work great too. You can also try lemon, red velvet or any flavor.
- Oil. Canola oil also works great in this recipe.
- Sprinkles. I love using multi-color but any will work for this easy cookie recipe.
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. Toss in a handful of chocolate chips into the batter.
- Nuts. Pecans and walnuts make great mix ins.
How to make yellow cake mix cookies:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2. Pour the cake mix into a mixing bowl.
Step 3. Mix the box of cake mix, eggs, oil together in a large mixing bowl. Don’t worry if the batter will be thick but this is normal).
Step 4. Now it’s time for the sprinkles. Gently add the sprinkles into the batter in the large bowl.
Step 5. Fold the sprinkles carefully into the batter.
Step 6. Use a cookie scoop to make the cookie dough balls. Place on cookie sheets leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Step 7. Bake until cookies brown just slightly on the edges. Allow to cool and serve.

- Use a cooling rack. It is also a good idea to use a cooling rack. Place the cookies on racks to cool completely.
- We also line baking sheets with parchment paper. This makes cleaning large baking sheets easier as well.
- Do NOT add any of the other ingredients required for the cake on the back of the box. Just use the dry ingredients only from the boxed cake me.
- Make sure to add the sprinkles last. Gently stir in the sprinkles so that the cookies aren’t discolored by the sprinkles.
