Pro Tips
- Use a cookie scoop: Portion the cookie dough with a cookie scoop to ensure all cookies are uniform in size and bake evenly.
- Cool on a rack: Transfer cookies to a cooling rack after baking to prevent them from becoming soggy on the bottom.
- Line your baking sheet: Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- Stick to the recipe ingredients: Only use the listed 4 ingredients for the cookies—no need to add extra ingredients from the cake mix box.
- Adjust cooking time by size: Baking times vary depending on cookie size; small cookies may take 10–12 minutes, larger ones up to 15 minutes.
- Do not overbake: Cookies should be slightly soft in the center when removed—they will continue to set as they cool.
- Room temperature ingredients: Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for smoother mixing and better texture.
- Chill dough if needed: If dough feels too soft or sticky, chill for 20–30 minutes before scooping.
- Add toppings last: Sprinkle nuts or chocolate chips on top after scooping for even distribution and presentation.
- Store properly: Keep cooled cookies in an airtight container to maintain softness and freshness.
- Customize mix-ins: Add raisins, shredded coconut, or extra spices like nutmeg or ginger for a flavor twist.
Storage
At room temperature: Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Refrigerated: If frosted, keep cookies in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Freezing: Wrap cookies individually in plastic wrap or foil and place in a freezer bag or container for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
