Whereas, an apple crisp has a crumble instead of a crust. It is a tasty oat topping that pairs perfectly with the apple mixture. The combination of oats, flour and more result in a crumble topping everyone enjoys.

They are both delicious. However, apple crisp is a bit easier to make and more forgiving than making a pie crust.

How to Make Apple Crisp In Crock Pot

Can You Use Fresh Apples?

Yes, you can use 6 apples thinly sliced. It is important to slice them as evenly as possible. This will help the apples to cook at the same speed.

If you are using fresh apples, we suggest using Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious or Pink lady. Feel free to combine different types of apples.

The best results come from using a blend of sweet and tart apples that hold up well during baking. You do not want the apples to get overly mushy while baking.

The fresh apples will need to be combined with a tablespoon lemon juice, ⅓ cup sugar, a tablespoon of cornstarch and a teaspoon of cinnamon.
