This recipe is so easy, and the results are wonderful. The center is packed with fresh lemon and each bite is heavenly. The chocolate makes it so creamy.

The powdered sugar coating gives each truffle the perfect amount of sweetness.

Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe - white chocolate baking bars, heavy cream, lemon zest, butter, yellow food coloring.
  • White chocolate baking bars. Make sure to use baking bars for the best results.
  • Heavy whipping cream. The high fat content in heavy cream is necessary for the truffles. Don’t substitute for milk.
  • Lemon Zest. This adds so much citrus flavor to the recipe.
  • Butter. Use real butter!
  • Yellow Food Coloring. This is optional but gives the truffles a pretty yellow color.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1. Use a microwave safe bowl. Break the white chocolate into small pieces and put in the bowl. Then add the butter on top of the chocolate. Set aside.

Step 2. Next, pour the heavy whipping cream into the small saucepan.  Stir occasional over medium heat until it starts to boil.

Step 3. Next, remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the lemon extract and lemon zest.  Whisk until combined.

Step 4. Then pour the lemon mixture over the white chocolate and butter.  Stir until the creamy white chocolate is melted and smooth.  Once combined, cover and refrigerate until the mixture is firm.

Step 5. Form the dough into balls. Place on a baking sheet.

Step 6. Finally, roll the balls into powdered sugar. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Continue in batches until they are all coated. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days.

  • Good quality chocolate. Make sure to use high quality chocolate for the best results for these lemon truffles.  
  • Toppings. You can roll the truffles in sprinkles instead of the powdered sugar before serving if you prefer. 
  • Stir with a wooden spoon. Make sure that you stir the mixture with a wooden spoon for the best results. It helps move the heat evenly throughout the mixture.  
  • Refrigerate the mixture. It is important to chill the mixture before forming the truffles. The mixture is soft, and this helps to make it easier to manage.
  • Fresh Lemon. For best flavor use fresh lemon zest. You will notice the difference if you omit this ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz white chocolate baking bars
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Zest of 1 Lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  • Break the white chocolate into smaller pieces and place the white chocolate In heat resistant bowl.  Place the butter on top of the chocolate in the bowl.  Set aside.
  • Place the heavy whipping cream in a saucepan.  Heat over medium high heat (whisking occasionally) until the cream just starts to boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the lemon extract and lemon zest.  Whisk until combined.
  • Pour this mixture over the white chocolate and butter.  Stir with a large wooden spoon until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Cover and refrigerate until the mixture is firm (1-2 hours).
  • Remove from the refrigerator and shape into 1″ balls.
  • Roll the balls into the powdered sugar and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Continue this process until all the truffles are formed.
  • Place the truffles in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy!
