Why We Love This
It’s an easy recipe that makes it possible for anyone to enjoy delicious homemade cookies from scratch. They turn out perfectly every time. This recipe is ideal for Christmas, special occasions or just because.
Ingredients

- Butter. The dough will be easier to combine if softened at room temperature.
- Cream Cheese. Use full fat brick style cream cheese.
- Vanilla Extract. I recommend using pure vanilla extract.
- All Purpose Flour. Spoon the flour into a measuring cup so you don’t pack too much into it.
- Powdered Sugar. I always like to sift the powdered sugar before using. It makes the frosting smoother.
Find the complete ingredient list and instructions in the recipe card at the bottom.
Variations
- Sprinkles. Top the cookies with your favorite sprinkles in the color you prefer.
- Almond extract. Swap the vanilla extract for almond if desired.
Step By Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 1. Combine the butter, package cream cheese and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy.

Step 2. Next, add the eggs and vanilla. Mix together in a large bowl.

Step 3. Lower the mixer speed and add the flour, baking powder and part of the powdered sugar. Combine the dry ingredients and stir together.

Step 4. Form the cookies using a large cookie scoop. I used a 1 1/2- 2 tablespoons size. Then scoop the cookie dough into round balls. Then roll them in the remaining powdered sugar.

Step 5. Place the 1-inch balls on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Step 6. Allow to cool a few minutes and then move to a wire rack to cool completely.

Pro Tips
- Room temperature Ingredients. The cream cheese and butter are easier to combine if softened.
- Don’t overbake the cookies. They do not take long to bake.
- Block style cream cheese. Do not use the cream cheese in the tub as the texture is different.
