Ingredients for air fryer chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients:

  • Unsalted Butter softened, at room temperature
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Large Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Baking Soda
  • Salt
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

How to air fry chocolate chip cookies

  • Step 1. Cream together the butter and sugars. In a large bowl beat (with a stand up mixer or hand mixer), the butter and both sugars.  Mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is creamy. The butter should be softened but do not melt the butter.
  • Step 2. Add the eggs and vanilla to the mixture. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and then add in the eggs and vanilla.  Continue mixing until thoroughly combined.
  • Step 3. Get out a separate bowl. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt.
  • Step 4. Combine the dry ingredients and wet ingredients. Then mix the bowl of dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.  We recommend mixing this by hand so that the mixture does not get over mixed.
  • Step 5. Add the chocolate chips. Next gently stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Step 6. Form the cookies. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to shape the cookie dough into balls.
  • Step 7. Put the cookies in the air fryer. Place the cookie dough in the air fryer basket lined with parchment paper. Make sure to leave approximately 1 inch in between each cookie dough ball.
  • Step 8. Air fry the cookies. Air fry at 300 degrees F for 7-8 minutes until the cookies are golden brown.
  • Step 9. Allow to cool. Let the cookies cool in the air fryer basket for 1-2 minutes and then move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

How do I know when my cookies are done?

We baked ours for 8 minutes at 300 degrees and they were cooked perfectly. Air fryers vary so you may need to do a test batch to see if there is any variation.

They should be golden brown around the edges and set in the middle.

How to store leftover cookies:

Store the leftover cookies in an airtight container or bag at room temperature for up to 1 week.  Keep a piece of bread in the container with the cookie to keep them soft.

How to freeze:

Freeze the cookies inside a freezer bag or container. Place wax paper in between the cookies to prevent them from sticking. They can be frozen up to 3 months.

Thaw in the fridge overnight when ready to enjoy.

You can also freeze the dough and have fresh made cookies whenever you want. Form the dough into balls but do not bake. Flash freeze for 1 to 2 hours and then place in a freezer container.

The dough can be frozen up to 3 months. Just bake when you want a cookie. You will need to add an extra couple of minutes to the baking time if frozen. Also, keep in mind that frozen dough may not spread as much as room temperature dough.

Recipe tips

  • Allow to set. The cookies should stay in the air fryer basket for 1 to 2 minutes to set before removing.
  • Use a cookie scoop. We like to form the cookie dough balls using a cookie scoop. Not only does it make the cookies uniform but it is so easy to form the balls.

Substitution and Additions

  • Chocolate. We love the flavor of traditional chocolate chips but dark chocolate and white chocolate taste great too. You can even combine several flavors.
  • Nuts. Chopped pecans or walnuts taste delicious in these cookies.
