It’s deep fried to perfection and so much better than anything store bought. This recipe makes such a pretty pastry and it’s very easy.

This recipe is easy to adapt for the ultimate dessert. It has the best flavor. From a midnight snack to a quick dessert, it’s gooey-perfection. It will definitely bring back childhood memories.

Ingredients: 

Ingredients for Deep fried pop tarts- pop tarts, oil, sprinkles, cherries, pancake mix, whipped cream.

For the Pop Tarts: 

  • Hot Fudge Sundae Pop Tarts 
  • Pancake Mix 
  • Egg 
  • Vegetable Oil

Toppings: 

  • Whipped Cream 
  • Sprinkles 
  • Cherries

Variations

  • Pop Tarts. This recipe can easily be made with your favorite type of pop tart.  Some ideas include strawberry, blueberry, chocolate and more for the greatest pop-tart flavors.
  • Deep fryer. Alternatively, this can be made using a deep fryer if you prefer.

How to make deep fried pop tarts:

Pot with oil.

Step 1. Add oil to the pan. Heat oil in a large pot , large saucepan or dutch oven.

Step 2. Mix the pancake batter.

Step 3. Combine cups of bisquick milk egg and sugar and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a large bowl.  

Pop tart dipped into batter.

Step 4. Dip the pop tarts into batter. Then dip each of the pop tarts into the batter and place them in the oil. 

Poptart in hot oil.

Step 5. Cook for 3-4 minutes, turning them halfway through the cook time to brown both sides.

Step 6. Allow to cool. Then move them to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and the cherry on top.

  • Caramel Syrup
  • Ice cream. Choose your favorite flavor and top each serving with a scoop. It is delicious for a mega-sweet treat.

Tips for Fried pop tarts:

  • Gently mix the batter and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fry immediately after dipping in the batter.
  • Each one should be flipped halfway during the frying process. Doing so will ensure the fried outer layer is golden brown.

How to store:

These are best served fresh, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.  

Separate them with wax paper to absorb any excess oil and to prevent sticking.

For the Pop Tarts:

  • 4 Hot Fudge Sundae Pop Tarts
  • 1 1/2 cups Pancake Mix
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tsp Vegetable Oil plus more for Frying

For the Toppings:

  • Whipped Cream
  • Sprinkles
  • Cherries

Instructions

  • Then gently mix together the pancake mix, egg, milk and 2 teaspoons of the vegetable oil in a large bowl.
