This recipe is so simple but the results are outstanding. The process of deep frying Little Debbie honey buns really elevates the basic honey bun.
The coating is fried to perfection and the inside is soft and delicious. No need to make this from scratch! You don’t even have to get out your stand mixer or dough hook.

How to make Deep Fried Honey Buns

Step 1. Pour oil in a deep pot and heat. The oil should be about 3 inches in a deep pot over medium high heat until it’s approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2. Get out a large bowl and pour the pancake mix inside.

Step 3. Next, add the egg, warm milk and vegetable oil into the dry ingredients in the bowl. You can also add vanilla for added flavor.

Step 4. Stir until the ingredients are combined on medium speed.

Step 5. Dip each honeybun in the batter mixture.

Step 6. Then place in the hot oil.

Step 7. Allow to cook until golden brown. It will take 30 seconds to 1 minute, turning occasionally. Be careful not to overcook as they brown quickly.

Step 8. Then move the fried treats to a plate on the counter lined with paper towels to soak up the excess oil. I prefer this over a wire rack in the work surface. Serve with powdered sugar on top. You can coat in melted butter using a small bowl if desired before adding toppings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container or cover in plastic wrap up to 3-4 days. These are best eaten fresh. If stored, reheat in the oven on a baking sheet or pan so they will be crispy.
Another option is the air fryer but I would spray the honeybuns with cooking spray prior to adding to the basket.
You can reheat in the microwave but they will be softer. They are best served warm instead of room temperature.
This recipe is best served fresh for the best taste and texture.
