How to Make Monster Halloween Oreos

  • Melt purple candy melts in the microwave. It is best to melt using 30 second intervals to prevent burning.
  • Dip the Oreo cookies into the melted green candy.
  • After each cookie has been coated, place on a lined baking sheet.
  • Put candy eyeballs on each cookie before the candy sets.
  • Allow to dry and then store.

You can also use green candy melts and place just one eyeball on the covered Oreo cookies. This will resemble Mike from Monsters Inc. If your kids love this movie, give this a try.

How to Make Mummy Chocolate Covered Oreos

  • Melt the white candy melts in 30 second intervals in the microwave. Continue until it is completely melted.
  • Dip each oreo into the candy melts.
  • Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Place 2 candy eyeballs before it sets.
  • Then drizzle more white chocolate on top of the cookie. Just use a fork and go back and forth until you are satisfied with how it looks.
  • Another option is to place the melted candy in a ziploc bag and cut the corner off. You can then pipe back and forth to make it look like a mummy.
  • Allow it to dry completely before storing.

Expert Tips

  • Remove excess chocolate. While dipping the cookies, gently tap the edge of the fork against the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
  • Melt one color at a time. You will need several microwave safe bowls to melt the candy.
  • Add toppings while still wet. If you wait too long to add the sprinkles or toppings, they will not stick to the Oreo. Toppings should be added right away.
  • Prepare the pan. I recommend placing a sheet of parchment paper on the pan before placing the cookies. This will catch any drips and make cleanup so easy.

Storage

Make sure the cookies are completely dry. Then place inside an airtight container. I would separate the layers with wax paper to prevent them from sticking.

They can be stored at room temperature up to 2 weeks. The cookies do not need to be refrigerated but make sure to keep them out of direct sunlight or near the oven. You do not want to store them where it will get warm.
