This is such an easy dessert but so fun to make for Halloween parties! We used clear cups so the layers can be seen, and it looks really festive. If you love the Best Dirt Cups Recipe, you will love this version for Halloween. Also try Halloween Dirt Cake Recipe if you want a regular size dessert.

The kids go crazy over the gummy worms and candy pumpkins. I started making these Oreo Dirt Cups years ago and modified the recipe a bit for Halloween.

How to make Halloween Dirt cups

Pudding in a bowl.

Step 1. Get out a mixing bowl and combine the pudding mix and the cold milk. Allow to set in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

Pudding mixed with cool whip in bowl.

Step 2. Add the whipped topping and fold it until well combined. Put this in the fridge for about 20 minutes so the mixture can chill.

Cookies in food processor.

Step 3. Put the cookies in the food processor and pulse until the cookies are fine crumbs.

Layers added to cup and topped with cookies.

Step 4. Assemble the dessert in clear plastic cups. First, put some of the chocolate pudding layer in each cup. Then add the cookie crumbs. Keep repeating until full. Top with the Milano cookies and write RIP on the top of each cookie with the black icing. You can also add gummy works and candy pumpkins.

Storage

Cover in plastic wrap and place in the fridge up to 3 days. I would not add the toppings until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • I usually make dirt cups with traditional Oreos and chocolate pudding but you can make this with your favorite type of Oreos and pudding to change up the flavor of the cake based on your preference.
  • Make sure to cover and refrigerate the leftovers. They will keep up to 5 days.
  • Plan ahead! I like to make these ahead if I am serving them at a party. It cuts down on things I need to do the day of and can easily keep in the fridge. I normally wait to decorate the top until I’m ready to serve so the cookie doesn’t get soft.
  • Don’t have a food processor? Place the cookies inside a ziplock bag and seal tightly. Use a rolling pin or the back of a wooden spoon to crush them into Oreo crumbs.
  • You can add cream cheese to the whipped cream to create a richer layer. This is delicious but not necessary. Just do what you prefer.
