It is so easy to make homemade pudding recipes and even busy moms can do this. My kids love oranges, so I wanted to try making an Orange Pudding. I make pudding all the time and it’s so much better than the pudding packs.

Last week, we made Lemon Pudding, Pumpkin Pudding and Oreo Pudding for a huge success. The kids are having the best time trying all these puddings.

It’s one of the Best Orange Desserts. We also love Orange Creamsicle Cake.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Orange Pudding - cornstarch, orange juice, orange zest, butter, eggs.
  • Cornstarch. This helps to thicken the pudding. The Best Substitutes for Cornstarch
  • Orange. You will need the zest.
  • Orange Juice. You can use fresh or store bought.
  • Butter. Real butter is always best.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1. First, combine the sugar, cornstarch, salt and orange zest in a medium saucepan.

Step 2. Then whisk in the orange juice and bring to a boil over medium heat. You will need to stir this constantly and allow to cook for 2 minutes.

Step 3. Get out a separate bowl and lightly beat them until foamy. Then stir in the orange juice mixture from the saucepan into the eggs. Slowly whisk the egg mixture back into the saucepan.

Butter added to mixture and combined.

Step 4. Allow the mixture to boil and reduce the heat to low.  Cook and stir for 2 more minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter.

Step 5. Spoon the pudding into serving dishes. Chill for about 2 hours.  

Whipped cream dolloped on each serving of pudding.

Step 6. Top with whipped cream if desired and serve.

Storage

Place leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It will last up to 4-7 days in the fridge.

Pro Tips

  • Gradually combine the eggs. Itโ€™s very important to gradually add the warm mixture to the eggs before adding them into the saucepan. You want to avoid scrambling the eggs so make sure not to skip this step. 
  •  Chill before serving. The pudding needs to fully set and it takes about 2 hours.
  • Fresh orange zest is a must. Don’t skip the orange zest. It adds so much citrus flavor to this pudding.

Instructions
