Oreo Dump Cake

Anything with oreo cookies tends to be a favorite around here. This Oreo Dump Cake was a huge success and the kids went crazy over it. I love making dump cakes because they are so easy and only require a few ingredients.

This recipe is easy enough to make in the middle of a busy week but special enough for company. It is not complicated at all and so very simple.

You don’t need any special ingredients or fancy baking equipment. We keep things simple around here, budget friendly and always delicious!

What is a Dump Cake?

We love making dump cakes. It is not liking making a traditional cake where you mix all the ingredients together and put in a baking pan. Instead of mixing the ingredients you basically dump them in the pan and bake.

Dump cakes make the best desserts!

What to top on Oreo Dump Cake?

This Oreo Dump cake is wonderful just by it self but I love to top it with some vanilla ice cream. When this cake is served warm topped with ice cream is the perfect combination to the best dessert.

We also like to drizzle with some chocolate syrup for a perfect over-the-top dessert.

Variation ideas:

  • We used classic oreo cookies. However, other types such as peanut butter oreo cookies would be amazing.
  • Feel free to use different types of cake mix. We used plain chocolate but triple chocolate fudge cake mix would be delicious. More ideas include devil’s food cake, red velvet cake mix and yellow cake mix.

We love to use what is already in the pantry. This is often how we create the tastiest recipes!

How to store leftover oreo dump cake:

  • Store your leftovers in the refrigerator. We just cover with a plastic wrap in the pan that we baked it in and put in the refrigerator. It will last about 5 days in the refrigerator.
  • We like to serve it warm. Once we are ready to eat it the next day, dish up a serving and heat in the microwave. I start off to about 20 seconds and then reheat if I want it a little hotter.

Serving ideas:

  • Top with vanilla ice cream and crushed oreo cookies. We love this easy homemade vanilla ice cream.
  • If you really love oreo cookies, you could top with cookies and cream ice cream. Chocolate fans might love a scoop of chocolate on top. I personally love the vanilla because it helps to balance out the rich chocolate.
  • We normally crush the oreo cookies in a ziplock bag using a rolling pin. Since you do not need a bunch, this works just fine.
