Ingredients

- Red Velvet Cake Mix. Plus, Ingredients to prepare the cake based on the package instructions.
- White Chocolate Pudding Mix. You can also use Cheesecake flavor pudding.
- Milk. Cold is best.
- Cream Cheese. Softened at room temperature.
- Powdered Sugar
- Cool Whip. Divided
- Mini Chocolate Chips. The mini size makes each bite easier to manage.

Variations and Additions
- Add ins. You can add chopped nuts, chocolate, coconut or anything you like in between the layers.
- Topping. Sprinkles, candy, fresh raspberries and more can be added to the top. Sometimes, we also add white chocolate chips. If making this ahead, I would advise to wait to add this until ready to serve.
- Pudding. Either white chocolate or cheesecake pudding can be used.
- Layers. You can easily substitute any type of cake and pudding to enjoy this year-round. Chocolate cake and vanilla pudding make a great combination.
- Individual Trifles. This recipe is easy to make using individual servings.
Step By Step Instructions

Step 1. Make the cake based on the package instructions in a 9X13 cake pan.

Step 2. Allow the cake to cool after you bake it.

Step 3. Cut into cubes.

Step 4. Make the pudding. In a small bowl, combine the white chocolate pudding mix with the milk.

Step 5. Make the cream cheese mixture. Place the cream cheese in a large bowl and beat until light and fluffy.

Step 6. Reduce the speed to low and gradually add the powdered sugar.

Step 7. Combine the instant pudding and cream cheese mixture.

Step 8. Then add in the Cool Whip to the bowl. Mix until combined.

Step 9. Gently put the red velvet cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish or glass bowl. Add just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.

Step 10. Top with the cream cheese layer.

Step 11. Add more cake cubes on top.

Step 12. Spread another layer of the cream cheese layer.

Step 13. Then top the trifle with the remaining cool whip.

Step 14. Sprinkle reserved cake crumbs and mini chocolate chips.
Storage
Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. You can also cover the dish with plastic wrap.

Pro Tips
- Cream cheese. Use the type that comes in a box and not a tub for the best texture.
- Food coloring. If you prefer a deeper red color, you can add food coloring to the cake mix.
- Allow cake to cool. Do not attempt to make the layers until the cake has completely cooled.

Red Velvet Trifle
Ingredients
- 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix
- *Ingredients to prepare the cake based on the package instructions.
- 2 boxes White Chocolate Pudding Mix 3.4 oz (or Cheesecake flavor)
- 2 cups Cold Milk
- 8 oz Cream Cheese softened at room temperature
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 16 oz Cool Whip divided
- 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Prepare the red velvet cake based on the package instructions in a 9X13 pan and allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature. Then cut the cake into cubes. Reserve a small amount of the cake for the topping and crumble it to cake crumbs.
- In a small bowl, combine the white chocolate pudding mix with the milk. Whisk for two minutes and set aside.
- Place the cream cream cheese into a mixing bowl and beat the cream cheese with a hand held mixer for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy. Reduce the speed to low and gradually add the powdered sugar. Once all of the sugar is incorporated, increase the speed to medium and beat for 1 minute, or until smooth.
- Add the prepared pudding to the cream cheese mixture and gently fold and stir with a rubber spatula until completely combined.
- Then add in 8 oz Cool Whip to the bowl and fold it into the mixture until no white streaks remain.
- Place red velvet cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish or glass bowl. Add just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Drizzle the white chocolate mixture over the cake cubes. Making sure to cover the cake. Then continue to layer the ingredients in the glass dish until you have used all the ingredients.
- Then top the trifle with the remaining cool whip, reserved cake crumbs and mini chocolate chips.
- Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
