There is so much to love about Oreo Trifle. It’s easy to make without much time or expense. The layers look gorgeous and it’s a real showstopper.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Oreo Trifle - brownie mix, eggs, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, cool whip, Oreo cookies, chocolate pudding, chocolate sauce, oreo cookies.

Brownies

  • Brownie Mix. The package needs to be about 18 ounces.
  • Eggs. I used large eggs.

Oreo Cheesecake Filling

  • Cream Cheese. Softened at room temperature so it’s easier to mix.
  • Powdered Sugar. Sift to remove any lumps if needed.
  • Vanilla extract. Use pure vanilla.
  • Cool Whip. You can use store brand whipped topping.
  • Crushed Oreos. Crush the Oreos by placing them in a food processor or Ziploc bag.

Pudding

  • Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix. Make sure to use instant pudding.
  • Milk. The milk needs to be cold.

Topping

  • Chocolate Sauce. Store bought is fine or you can use Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe.
  • Oreos. Crushed into large pieces.

Variations

  • Brownies. Substitute Easy One Bowl Brownies if you prefer to use homemade brownies instead of a box mix.
  • Oreo Cookies. You can use other variations such as peanut butter, Nutella Oreo cookies and others.
  • Cake. Swap the brownies for chocolate cake.
  • Pudding. Homemade Chocolate Pudding is another option.

Step By Step Instructions

  • Step 1. Get started by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and line a 9X9 baking dish with parchment paper.

Step 3. Once mixed together, spread the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the brownies comes out clean.  Don’t overcook them so you have fudgy brownies.

Step 4. The brownies need to cool. Then cut into bite size cubes.

Step 6. Get out a separate large bowl. Beat the cream cheese on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy. Then gradually add the powdered sugar. Next, add the cool whip and crushed Oreo crumbs to the cream cheese mixture. Carefully stir until just combined and don’t overmix.

Storage

Cover in plastic wrap and place in the fridge up to 3 days. Any longer and the ingredients will get soggy.

Expert Tips

  • Cut the Brownies evenly. Try to cut the brownies into about 1 inch cubes.
  • Smooth each layer. I like to use an offset spatula to smooth the layers. This makes it look so pretty in the trifle dish.
  • Don’t overmix. Carefully combine the cream cheese mixture. Don’t overmix so it is still light and fluffy.
  • Individual desserts. Arrange the mixture into clear cups to make individual desserts for parties and more.
  • Make ahead. This trifle can be assembled a day in advance.
  • More flavors. Try other combinations such as this Easy Blondie Recipe, Homemade Vanilla Pudding Recipe and Golden Oreos.
