The recipe is a great base recipe to use as you can adapt this with add ins and other flavors.

Sweet Bread makes a great gift or quick snack for the family. I think you will love it. The kids also love when I make Strawberry Banana Bread and Chocolate Banana Bread.

Ingredients

Ingredients for sweet bread: flour, sugar, eggs, oil, milk, vanilla, baking powder.
  • All Purpose Flour. You don’t want to pack the flour so spoon it into a measuring cup. Scooping it packs too much into the cup.
  • Granulated Sugar. Just plain, white sugar.
  • Whole Milk. I prefer whole milk for its richness.
  • Vanilla Extract. Enhances the flavor of the bread.

Variations

  • Mini Loaves. You can also make this same recipe in 3 mini loaf pans.  However, they will only need to bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
  • Chocolate Chips. Add chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
  • Dried Fruit. This bread is delicious with dried fruit such as cranberries, raisins, strawberries and more.
  • Nuts. Add chopped pecans or walnuts.

How to Make Sweet Bread

  • Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9X5 loaf pan with a non-stick cooking spray.

Step 7. After the bread has cooled, slice with a sharp knife and enjoy. It’s delicious with butter.

Pro Tips

  • Cover the bread. The bread should be golden brown but not overly brown. If you notice it is getting too brown on top but it’s still baking, cover with foil.
  • Don’t overmix the batter. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just combined. Mixing too much will make the bread lose its soft and fluffy texture.
  • Richer flavor. You can make the bread with Homemade Brown Sugar Recipe for richer flavor.
