Ingredients
- Oreos. Regular Oreos and not double stuffed work best.
- White Candy Melts. Find Wilton melting wafers on the baking aisle near the chocolate chips.
- Red, Pink and White Sprinkles. Choose any Valentine’s Day Sprinkles you love.
Get the complete list of ingredients at the bottom of the page.
Variations
- Toppings. Sprinkles are fun but other ideas include crushed candy, coconut and nuts. Drizzle different colors candy melts or colored chocolate on top.
- Oreo cookies. You don’t have to use traditional Oreo cookies. You can use golden Oreos, red velvet or any flavor you like.
- Milk chocolate. Instead of white, try dipping the Oreo cookies into milk chocolate. Everyone will love chocolate-dipped cookies. It’s also easy to melt chocolate in the microwave.
- Other holidays. Change the color and sprinkles to make Patriotic Oreo Pops for July 4th. Use festive sprinkles for birthdays, Christmas and more.
How to Make Valentine’s Oreos
- Step 1. First, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. This will make cleanup much easier.

Step 2. Next, put the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Then heat in 30-second intervals. Make sure to stir after each interval until fully melted. It is really important to do this in intervals and reduce microwave time so that you don’t burn the candy. You can also use a melting pot and melt candy melts according to package directions.

Step 3. Once melted, place an Oreo in the melted candy. I like to use a fork to remove the Oreo. Then gently tap the fork against the side of the bowl to remove any excess candy.

Step 4. Next, place the Oreos on the baking sheet. Top with sprinkles before the cookies dry.

Step 5. Continue until you have topped all of the cookies. Allow to sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour so the decorations can set.
Pro Tips
- Use a toothpick to remove excess chocolate around the cookies. Often when you place the cookies on the baking sheet, a pool of chocolate will form.
This will make the Oreo cookies look messy. Just use a toothpick to go around the cookie and once dry, you won’t have the extra ring of chocolate.
- Parchment paper is a must. Cleanup is so much easier if you line the baking sheets.
- Don’t use a cooling rack. The chocolate will run underneath and it won’t dry smoothly. You definitely need to use a baking sheet.
- Add sprinkles right away. If you wait, the chocolate will set, and the sprinkles won’t stick.
- Double Boiler. If you don’t want to use the microwave, you can use a double boiler to melt the candy.
Frequently Asked Questions

I suggest using wax paper in between the layers of cookies to prevent them from sticking. This will also help if you only want to grab a couple and makes it easy to remove.

This recipe is not recommended for freezing. Once you thaw the chocolate-covered Oreo cookies, a condensation forms, and it messes up the coating.
