Biscuit Donut Recipe Variations:
- Topping – Feel free to use a different topping instead of the cinnamon and sugar. You can add a glaze and top with sprinkles or mini chocolate chips. These donuts are the perfect amount of sweetness but adding a glaze is my favorite way to serve.
- Bake Donuts – If you prefer you can bake the biscuits instead of air frying them. Place in the oven at 375 degrees and bake until golden brown on a lined baking sheet. Then add your favorite toppings or glaze.
- Donut Holes – If making the donut holes, you can still drizzle with glaze and add sprinkles. Donut and Donut holes are my favorite because they are bite size.
- Homemade Donuts – Feel free to make your own donuts with biscuit dough. You will need a biscuit cutters or a round cookie cutter to make round shape.
How to Make Air Fryer Donuts:
- Step 1 – Prepare the air fryer by preheating it. Now, some do not have a preheat option. You will need to turn your air fryer to the 350 degrees. Then let it run for about 5 minutes before adding the donuts.
Step 2. Remove the biscuits from the can and cut out the center. You can use a small 1 inch cookie cutter. If you don’t have a cookie cutter, you can use an apple corer.
Step 3. Next, coat the basket with olive oil. You do not want to use non stick cooking spray. This could damage your air fryer.
Step 4. Now it is time to cook the donuts. Put the donuts in the air fryer and cook for 4 minutes. Place in the air fryer in a single layer. Cook times will vary based on your air fryer.
Step 5. Next, combine the cinnamon and 1 cup sugar together in a bowl while the donuts are cooking. You can also melt the butter in a separate bowl at this time.
Step 6. Finally, remove the donuts from the air fryer. Use a basting brush to coat the donuts with the melted butter.
Step 7. Top each donut with the cinnamon sugar mixture. I like to be generous and make sure to get the bottoms and the sides of the donuts. You want the cinnamon mixture in every crevice! Serve and enjoy.
How to Make Air Fryer Donut Holes:
We love to make donut holes with the leftovers. Just place the donut holes in the air fryer basket and cook for 2 minutes.
Once they are finished cooking, top with the butter and cinnamon sugar mixture.

- Biscuits – We recommend getting the flaky biscuits to make this recipe. You can use any brand but the flaky biscuits work the best.
- Prepare Air Fryer – Coat the air fryer with coconut oil spray, olive oil or vegetable oil. You do not want to use Pam non-stick spray in your air fryer.
- Cooling Rack – When you are done cooking the biscuits place on the paper towel lined cooling rack to decorate.
- Deep Frying – We love using our air fryer to make this recipe as it is less messy than deep frying it. But you definitely can deep fry the biscuits to make these donuts.
- Coating Biscuits – To add the melted butter to the biscuits, I like to baste with a pastry brush. It allows me to make sure the entire biscuit is covered.
