Why This Recipe Works
- Sweet and salty perfection: The combination of buttery Ritz crackers, creamy peanut butter, and smooth chocolate is simply irresistible.
- Quick and easy: No baking required! Just a few ingredients and a little dipping, and you have a crowd-pleasing treat in minutes.
- Great for any occasion: Perfect for holidays, parties, or a simple snack when you’re craving something sweet.
- Customizable: Add sprinkles, crushed nuts, or drizzle with white chocolate for a festive touch.
- Kid-friendly: A fun, no-fuss recipe that kids can help make and everyone loves to eat.
Ingredients
- Ritz Crackers: The classic buttery flavor makes these treats irresistible, but you can use any store brand buttery round cracker if you prefer.
- Peanut Butter: Creamy peanut butter works best for smooth, easy spreading between the crackers. Avoid natural peanut butter that separates, as it can make the filling too runny.
- Milk Chocolate: Use good-quality milk chocolate for the best flavor and texture. You can also substitute with semi-sweet or dark chocolate if you prefer a richer taste.

Variations
- Filling– You can substitute the peanut butter for other ingredients. We like marshmallow fluff, Nutella, and caramel. You can also use almond butter.
- Chocolate- I actually prefer white chocolate so make several using that. You can also use dark chocolate.
- Almond Bark– Another option is to use chocolate almond bark instead of milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips. This provides a harder set.
- Candy Melts – These come in lots of different colors that would be pretty for special occasions.
- Sprinkles– Jazz these up for holidays by using coordinating sprinkles. Red and green for Christmas, pastels for Easter, red and pink for Valentine’s Day during the holiday season. Those are just a few ideas! You can also use matching sprinkles for birthday parties too.
- Sea Salt – Sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top.
Step By Step Instructions

Step 1 – Spread the creamy Peanut butter on the tops of 12 crackers using a lined sheet pan. You can make the peanut butter layer as thick as you prefer.

Step 2 – Put the remaining crackers on top of the peanut butter to make a sandwich.

Step 3 – The last step is to melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. If you use the microwave, melt in 30 second intervals and stir. This will help prevent the chocolate from burning. Learn How to Melt Chocolate Chips.

Step 4 – Now that the chocolate is melted, dip each cracker sandwich into the chocolate. I like to use a fork to do this.

Step 5 – Use the fork to gently shake any excess chocolate. Then put the crackers coated in chocolate on wax paper to dry.

Step 6 – Have the chocolate has harden, then the chocolate peanut butter sandwich cookie is ready to serve.
Pro Tips
- Line Your Baking Sheet: Always line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat before dipping. It keeps the crackers from sticking and makes cleanup super easy.
- Spread the Peanut Butter Evenly: Use a small spoon or knife to spread the peanut butter smoothly between the crackers. If your family loves peanut butter, go thick! If you prefer a lighter bite, use a little less.
- Tap Off Excess Chocolate: After dipping each cracker into the melted chocolate, gently tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove any extra chocolate. This helps keep the coating smooth and neat.
- Chill to Set Faster: Place the dipped crackers on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for about 15–20 minutes to help the chocolate set quickly.
Storage
Room Temperature
Keep your chocolate covered Ritz crackers in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Store them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Refrigerator
If your home is warm, place the crackers in the fridge so the chocolate stays firm. Let them sit out for a few minutes before serving so they soften slightly.
Freezer
For longer storage, freeze the crackers in a freezer-safe container with wax or parchment paper between the layers. They’ll last for 1–2 months.
When ready to serve, let them thaw at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes.
