Pro Tips

  • Freeze Twinkies: After unwrapping, insert a stick into each Twinkie and place them on a baking sheet. Freeze for about 3 hours to help the chocolate coating set better.
  • Melting Chocolate: Melt the candy wafers or chocolate chips using a microwave or double boiler. Heat gently and stir frequently to avoid burning or seizing the chocolate.
  • Dipping Twinkies: Fully dip each Twinkie into the melted chocolate, then gently shake off any excess before placing it back on the baking sheet to prevent drips.
  • Serving: Allow the chocolate coating to harden completely at room temperature or in the fridge before serving for the best texture and presentation.
  • Additional Tip: If the chocolate starts to thicken while dipping, gently rewarm it in short bursts to keep it smooth and easy to work with.

Storage

Room Temperature:
Store the chocolate covered Twinkies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Refrigeration:
If it’s warm where you live, refrigerate the Twinkies to keep the chocolate from melting. Bring them back to room temperature before serving for the best taste and texture.

Freezing:
Freeze the coated Twinkies in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe container or bag. Store in the freezer for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature before serving.
