Storage

Store any leftover chips in an airtight container for up to 5 days. We suggest refrigerating these potato chips and not leaving them at room temperature. Just make sure that moisture does not get in the container or it will make the chip soggy.

Freezing this recipe is not recommended as it will change the texture of the chips. They are best eaten fresh.

Pro Tips

  • Make sure the chocolate isn’t too heavy. If you use too much chocolate, the chips will break. Remove any excess chocolate after dipping.
  • Ridges work best. Chips that have ridges work best to support the layer of chocolate.

FAQs

How long will Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips last?

They will last about 5 days if stored properly. You will likely discover that you eat them much faster than that. Everyone will love these chips!

How do you melt chocolate chips?

There isn’t any need to use a double boiler when it is so easy to use the microwave. We melted these chocolate chips using a microwave safe bowl. Then microwave in increments.

Make sure to melt in 25 second intervals so that it does not burn. Stir in between each interval.

What types of chips to use?

Plain chips with ridges work best. They are sturdier than chips without ridges and help to support the extra layer of chocolate.

Feel free to try other flavors and varieties to see what you prefer. If you are using a flavored potato chip, be careful that it does not have a lot of seasoning.

You do not want that to come off in the chocolate while dipping. It will make the chocolate texture hard to dip and not as smooth.
