Frequently Asked Questions

Can I freeze this frosting?

Yes, this frosting is perfect to freeze. Make sure the frosting is sealed tightly to ensure it does not get freezer burn.

Freeze up to 3 months. Allow to thaw in the fridge overnight when ready to use.

What if my frosting is too sweet?

Keep in mind that buttercream frosting is a very sweet recipe. You can add a pinch of salt to cut down on the sweetness. However, do not add too much or you risk ruining the entire batch of frosting.

How do I thicken the frosting?

If the frosting is too thin for your preference, the first step is to refrigerate it. The temperature may be too warm in your kitchen and result in the butter softening too much.

Refrigerate the frosting for 40 minutes to 1 hour and check on the consistency. If it is still too runny, add more powdered sugar. Start with ¼ cup and combine together until desired texture.

What if my frosting is too thick?

Add 1 teaspoon of milk and combine the ingredients. Continue to do this until it is the desired thickness. Do not add too much milk at once or you might use too much.
