- Step 8 – Bake Cookies – Bake in the oven for 10-13 minutes until the edges are golden brown. Be careful not to over cook. The cookies will continue to cook as they sit.
- Step 9 – Serve and Enjoy – Remove the cookies from the oven. Let them rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then move them to wire racks to cool completely.
Do I have to Chill the Dough?
Yes, we recommend chilling the dough. This helps to create a thick texture cookie. It also prevents the cooking from spreading while baking.
Tips for Making Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- Room Temperature Ingredients – We recommend starting with softened butter to make this recipe. It blends with the other ingredients so no lumps are in the batter.
- Mixing Ingredients – For best results, use a stand mixer or a hand help mixer to mix the ingredients.
- Large Scoops – To make these closely resemble Mrs. Fields cookies, scoop about ¼ cup of the dough to form the dough. They need to be the size of a golf ball.
- Baking Cookies – Bake cooking until golden brown. Make sure to not over cooke the cookies. The cookies will finish cooking while on the baking sheet after removing from the oven.
- Prepare Baking Sheets – Parchment paper makes clean up easy and helps the cookies to bake evenly without spreading a bunch.
How to Store:
Store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Keep a piece of bread in the container with the cookies to keep them soft and to stay fresh.
Can I Freeze Chocolate Chip Cookies?
These Chocolate Chip Cookies freeze well and there are two options you can choose from. You can freeze the dough which is the method we prefer or freeze cookie after baking.
After forming the dough balls, flash freeze on a baking sheet for 1 to 2 hours. Then freeze in bags or freezer containers until ready to bake.
This method makes it super easy to enjoy fresh baked cookies any day of the week. Just note that frozen cookies will need a few extra minutes to bake.
The other option is to freeze the cookies after they are baked. Place parchment paper in between the layers when freezing. You can use a freezer container or bag and freeze up to 3 months.
